Welcome to the Mebbin Marathon. This is a fun and challenging event open to anyone with a mountain bike. Mebbin single track
But you better do some training! Beginners, novices, veterans and elite riders are all invited to come out and enjoy a great day of riding/racing. Solo and NEW 2 person category events.


Race inside a volcano! The Mebbin National park is in the centre of the magnificent Wollumbin (Mt Warning) volcanic caldera. This stunning area encompasses the massive 20 million year old shield volcano with surrounding views of the outer rim in every direction. From the Mebbin National park you can clearly see the impressive 600m high crater wall reaching up into the Border Ranges National Park.

The Mebbin MTB Marathon starts at the Cutters campground area inside the Mebbin National park forest. Camp over in Cutters campground before the race, or stay in nearby Uki or Murwillumbah (10 - 20 minutes from Cutters campground )

Cutters campground facilities include:
Approx 45 camp sites (Grassy spots)
Toilets , BBQ Cooking (gas and wood) ,Fire places
Bring your own drinking water.
Daily Vehicle Fees: $7 (Dont forget to pay!)
Camping Fees: $5  (per adult/15 years + )
$3 (children 5yrs - 15yrs)(Dont forget to pay!) NO PETS 
Pay when you get to Cutters campground (First in first to camp)
National parks do not take bookings

Course details: 
All courses have a combination of Dirt roads, Fire trails, 4WD trail, Single track this course will put a big grin on your face. Encompassing a World Heritage National park (Mebbin) and an amazing adjcent private property (over 2000 acres). All the courses intersect at some point and use the same courses in the Mebbin National Park. All 3 courses venture onto private land (single track) with the 75k riders going further on the private Mebbin springs land.

The 75k is epic in its climbing/descending and variation of terrain. The 45k and 25k are also very challenging (everyone rides Bullocks head rd!).

Trail surface is fast (when its dry) Clay hard pack, awesome tree cover. Fast ,fun flowing climbs/descents.

Courses are subject to change due to weather conditions on race day (we hope not) :)

3 (per lap) on the 75k course
2 (per lap) on the 45k/25k course

Event Programme:
Saturday 9th (Come early!! to get the best camp spot)
Pre - Registration Opens at 2pm/closes at 6pm in Cutters Camp Mebbin campground.

Sunday 10th
Registration Opens at 7.00am/closes at 9.30am in Cutters camp Mebbin campground.

75k/45k/25k Categories:
Open to riders 14yrs and above.
Please note: 14 - 16yrs may only enter the 45k and 25k event.
17yrs+ can enter the 75k/45k/25k.
Solo Man/Women/2 person Teams
14 - 16yrs  
17 - 29yrs
30 - 39yrs
40 - 49yrs
50 - 59yrs
60yrs+
2 person Teams (NEW CATEGORY!)

2 Person Team rules:
This is a new category in this event (the idea stolen from Transalps team events without the time penalties). The idea is you ride the event with a mate (hopefully close to your fitness level).
Mebbin MTB marathon 2 person team members must finish within 2 minutes of each other or will not be eligible for team prizes.
Team entry fees are also $10 less per person than solos.

Share your car:
There is limited parking space in the forest.
Be ecologically and economically wise and share your car/transport with another rider.

Arrival Times:
If your camping please arrive saturday before 10pm. (The earlier you arrive the better camp spot you will get). If your arriving race day get to registration an hour before your start. Registration closes at 9.30am.
RIDERS SAFETY BRIEFING AT 9.45am.

National Forest Care:
This is a World Heritage National Forest park with precious wild life/flora and fauna. The organisers of the Mebbin marathon will not allow littering by riders or spectators.  Please carry all your food/gel wrappers with you.  If you see somebody litter please take their number. We will disqualify them No questions asked. No pets allowed.

This event is supported by and supporting Interaction. A outdoor education centre near Mebbin.

Prizes:
up to $5000 in prizes and giveaways.

Catered Lunch/race numbers: All entered riders receive a lunch as part of your entry. Lunch will be served from 1pm, followed by the prize giving at 2.30pm. Your RACE NUMBER is your lunch ticket to be returned.

Solo
75km Marathon: $85 (includes Maxxis Tube and after race lunch/drink and goodies)
Solo 45km Marathon: $75 (includes Maxxis Tube and after race lunch/drink and goodies)
Solo 25km Marathon: $55 (includes Maxxis Tube and after race lunch/drink and goodies)

2 Person Team 75k
Marathon:$150 (includes Maxxis Tube and after race lunch/drink and goodies)
2 Person Team 45k Marathon:$130 (includes Maxxis Tube and after race lunch/drink and goodies)
2 Person Team 25k Marathon:$90 (includes Maxxis Tube and after race lunch/drink and goodies)


(Note: No MTBA license required. All riders are responsible for their own Insurance and medical )
