One of the most beautiful and challenging century rides in Australia from one stunning location to another. The Rainbow Ride cycle challenge goes through the Northern Hinterland known as the Rainbow region from Byron bay NSW to finish at Currumbin on the Gold coast in Queensland. Come to Byron bay the day before to soak up the sun, beaches, lighthouse walks.

Course description:
Join us for a day of challenging riding on the scenic course of rolling terrain as it leaves from (the most easterly point in Australia) the historic and scenic Byron bay Lighthouse (160k start) and goes through Myocum then up Possom shoot onto Coolamon Scenic drive (NEW!) then down into Mullumbimby with amazing views of Mt Chincogan. Turning inland to Main arm and through the Pocket rd to the village of Billinudgel and onto Tweed valley way through Mooball (100k start) and across the (Burringbar range 160m climb) with fantastic views of Mt Warning, through Stokers siding, Uki and along the Tweed valley of contrasts, then turning left around through the super scenic Tyalgum (Wollumbin) Mt Warning caldera loop before finishing over the epic Mt Tomewin (365m climb) and down into the beautiful Currumbin Valley to finish at the Worlds best Sustainable Community Housing development the Ecovillage at Currumbin.

This is a sport cycle challenge event open to anyone with a bike.(Road bikes only on 160k events, Hybrids and MTBs are welcome on the 100k) This competitive sport ride with has lots of climbing and we encourage you to train for the event and achieve your personal best.

[Open to riders 15+ years and of all abilities]
100k 2/3/4 person Teams
[Open to riders 13+ years and of all abilities. Mens/Womens/Mixed]

Teams:

The Combined Team time is based on the accumulative team time to finish. Team of 2/3 or 4 friends to ride the complete the distance together. Great prizes and trophies for all team winners. So start training together and working on your team tactics!

Elite: 17+ years
Juniors: 13 -16 years 
Seniors: 17 - 34 years
Masters: 35 - 44 years
Veterans: 45 - 54 years
Super Vets: 55 - 64 years
Grand Masters: 65+ years 
Teams: Mens/Womens/Mixed (2/3/4 person)

Note: Juniors 13 - 16 years can only ride the 100k event.

Start Times/Locations:
160k start in
Byron bay at 8.00 am (NSW Time!)
At the historic and beautiful Byron bay Lighthouse. Riders can pick up numbers/transponders at Clarks beach on Lawson st at 6.00am - 7.30am. Please note: All vehicles must be parked on Lawson st or Clarks beach carpark area. NO CARS OR SUPPORTERS VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED AT THE LIGHTHOUSE. All riders MUST RIDE THE 3k up to the Lighthouse and assemble by 7.40am.

Toilets open are 6am at Clarks beach. And at surf club Bay st (main beach where we use to start)

in Mooball at 10.00 am (NSW Time!)
Outside the Moo Moo cafe in Mooball NSW.
Services at Mooball: Water. Mooball cafe. 3 Toilets across the rd.

ALL THE ROADS ARE OPEN TO ALL VEHICLE TRAFFIC. YOU MUST OBEY AND FOLLOW THE ROAD CODE (INCLUDING GIVE WAY SIGNS, STOP SIGNS, RAILWAY CROSSINGS) AND EVENT RULES OR FACE IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFACTION.

Travel/Accommodations and transport suggestions:
We recommend you come for the weekend! Arrive Friday or Saturday. If you bring a small backpack (labeled with your name). We will get it to the finish for you.

160k King of the Mountains Climbs:
Pocket Road Rocket  (1.3 kilometres 100m elevation)
Burringbar Buster (2.0 kilometres 160m elevation)
Super Stokers (1.4 kilometres 130m elevation)
Mt Tomewin (5.0 kilometres 365m elevation)                 

Lunch/Prize giving: A catered lunch will be served to all participants following your event from 12.00pm (Qldtime) with the prize giving at 1.30pm (Qldtime). You must be present to receive prizes.
Shuttle transport to Byron leaves at 3.00pm (Qldtime).

Safety/Support: This year we will have a Mobile tech support vehicle. Every participant must wear a helmet, ride a safe bicycle, carry a spare/tools and obey all road rules, marshals and organizers instructions.

This event has a Police escort. Medical personnel will follow the events and be on hand for rider support. We count on you to ride in a safe manner.
Riders are responsible for their own Insurance/medical coverage.

No Supporters Vehicles to directly follow the event!
If supporters wish to watch the event and/or feed their riders they must go ahead to the feed stations in advance of the start. Any supporters directly following their riders will risk being disqualified and asked to leave the event.

160k/100k from 2.00pm - 5.30pm at SUNRISE CYCLES Centennial Circuit Byron bay. From highway turn left (from Byron turn right) into Bayshore drive (BP station), then left into Centennial circuit. SUNRISE CYCLES is on the left.

Rainbow Ride Jerseys:
Tinelli jerseys are of superior quality and have a comfortable performance fit. We order a limited run of these Jerseys and it helps to know the quanity and sizes in advance. Full payment required with your order. Please add the Total jersey amount ($120 each including Postage) to your direct credit or cheque.
Jerseys will be posted out November 1st.
