Welcome to the La Primavera Cycle challenge. Let yourself be inspired by riding through the awesome spring views of the Riverhead forest, Kaipara harbour and local vineyards.

Riders at the startOpen to recreational sport riders through to elites. This event formally known as the rodney rabbit ride has been reborn with a new starting village  and new fun and (easier)
courses. There are Spot prizes and cash prizes for Solo and Teams riders. All riders recieve a gourmet lunch after La Primavera. If your planning to ride the Lake Taupo Cycle challenge the La Primavera is the perfect preparation.

Rider Categories:
Elite: 19+ years
Senior/Open: 19 - 34 years
Juniors: 18 years and Under 
Masters: 35 - 44 years
Veterans: 45 - 54 years
Super Vets: 55 - 64 years
Grand Masters: 65+
Teams: Mens/Womens/Mixed (2/3/4 person any age/combination)

Age restrictions:
100k open to 16 years +
70k open to 15 years +
25k open to 14 years +

This competitive sport ride and we encourage you to train seriously for the event and achieve your personal best.

Teams:
The Combined Team time is based on the accumulative team time to finish. Team of 2/3 or 4 friends to ride the complete the distance together. Great prizes and trophies for all team winners. So start training together and working on your team tactics!


Course:
Starting in Riverhead (just north west of central Auckland).The 100k course take the riders through the back roads of Coatesville, Dairy flat (New beautiful Whitehill rd section for 100k event) with riders passing through Silverdale, Upper Orewa, Waitoki, Helensville before returning through the hills above Waimauku and the Riverhead forest.

The 70k course follows the 100k route until Waitoki where it continues on around to Helensville then follows the course back to Riverhead via the Riverhead forest way (old north rd).

The 25k course heads out to Waimauku via the Riverhead forest way (old north rd) and loops around back to Riverhead.

Updated August 27th: No long dirt section!
We have eliminated the Horse shoe bush rd 3k dirt section (because its got a few to many holes and rocks) and redesigned the courses a little.

The 100k and 70k now take Kahikatea flat rd, with the 100k doing the (new fun and fast Whitehills rd) to get to Pine valley rd.

Directions to start:
From Auckland central and all points South. Take the Western motorway (16) to Massey continue towards Kumeu on (16). Look for a right turn to Riverhead just after the short steep double lane hill. Turn right onto Coatesville-Riverhead hwy. Riverhead is 2.5km.

From North shore and all points North. Take the SH (17) Old Silverdale/Albany hwy.Turn left (from North shore) OR right (from Silverdale/Orewa or points north onto Coatesville-Riverhead hwy. Riverhead is 10km.


Registration:
Numbers Pick up and late registration
from 6.30am  - 8.00am at the Start/finish Riverhead domain on Princes st.

Attention! ALL THE ROADS ARE OPEN TO ALL VEHICLE TRAFFIC. YOU MUST OBEY AND FOLLOW THE NEW ZEALAND ROAD CODE (INCLUDING GIVE WAY SIGNS, STOP SIGNS, RAILWAY CROSSINGS) AND EVENT RULES OR FACE IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFACTION.

No supporters vehicles to directly follow the events!

Prizes:
$5,000+ in spot and cash prizes
including $1000 in cash prizes for first 3 finishers overall.
Trophies for 1st Place in each age group category and Team prizes.
Cash prizes for First/Second/Third overall
1st: $500
2nd: $300
3rd: $200


Massage:
Get a massage after your ride. $10 for 10 minutes.

Prizegiving and Lunch:
Lunch is served from 11.45am. Prize giving at 12.30pm. (You must be present at the prize giving to recieve prizes)

Safety and support:
Everyone must wear a helmet, ride a safe bicycle, carry a spare/tools, and obey all road rules, marshals and organisers instructions. Paramedical personal will follow the events and be on hand for rider support.

100k Solo $75
100k Teams (2/3/4 person: $65 each) $130, $195, $260 

70k Solo $55
70k Teams (2/3/4 person: $45 each) $90, $135, $180 

25k Solo $35

[All Entry fees include, ride pack goodies and after ride catered lunch in the park!]
